Introduction
In this product review, I will assess the DreamSky Compact Digital Alarm Clock. Alarm clocks are essential for our everyday life with busy schedules. DreamSky is a US-based company that solely focuses on creating simple digital alarm clocks that fix humanity’s most complicated problem, waking up in the morning. The DreamSky Compact Digital alarm clock is accessible, functional, and portable for any occasion, however, it has made some compromises regarding durability.
Background Information
“The early bird gets the worm”. Waking up early is crucial to creating healthy time management and fitting into our busy work and school schedules. Alarm clocks were invented in 1787, during the industrial revolution to make workers more productive. Since then it has become a huge necessity for our day-to-day lives. Although today almost everyone has access to alarms through their mobile devices, it can be easily distracting and overwhelming for some people. DreamSky is committed to crafting alarm clocks that maintain the familiar functions of traditional models while incorporating digital enhancements. The scientific invention that has made digital alarm clocks possible is the computer microchip. Computer microchips can transfer electric signals to convert binary numbers into decimals and display them on the screen of digital alarm clocks. The digital clock allows clear and accurate demonstration of time allowing users to precisely manage their wake-up time.

It has four round plastic buttons with a white printed description underneath instead of the traditional wheel system of many alarm clocks. Each of them serves the function of toggling the alarm, setting the time on the clock, and adjusting the volume of the alarm up and down. One of its unique and most accessible features is the placement of the snooze button. The snooze button on this clock takes over a large space and is placed on top of the clock. It is touch-sensitive, so people can have those few minutes of sleep without putting any effort into finding and pressing any buttons. All of the buttons except the snooze button create a beeping sound when pressed. Even though the plastic buttons make the regular functions of the clock very easy to operate, they are very unstable. The buttons need a strong push to register and at times it takes two consecutive clicks. However, with all of these demerits, it is still more accessible than other alarm clocks in the market.

The laminating wood panel all around gives it a sleek and aesthetic look and provides a rigid frame that prevents it from breaking due to falls. It can handle physical pressure quite well. On the other hand, the plastic material used on the buttons is very unstable and fragile. The buttons are prone to detachment from any minor falls. They will also crack if any pressure is induced on them. The screen of the alarm clock is made out of plastic. It can easily get scratches and dents which can create difficulties in viewing the time. However, the use of plastic screens makes them more durable than other materials such as glass.
